Diagnostic Immunology

Immunology plays a major role in diagnostics for infectious diseases. Immunology is an interdisciplinary field that represents the study of molecules, cells, and organs that make up the immune system. To assist in the diagnosis of disease caused by infectious microorganisms, immunoassays have been developed. These biochemical and serological methods depend on the identification and dosage of antibodies generated against an infectious agent, a microbe, or non-microbial antigen.
