Antiviral Agents

Antiviral agents are a class of medication used mostly for treating viral infections.  Antiviral agents like oseltamivir phosphate, peramivir or zanamivir can be used to diagnose the flu or to prevent it in people at high risk. The main objective of antiviral therapy is to minimize symptoms and infectivity as well as to shorten the duration of illness. These antiviral drugs currently available are used to diagnose infections caused by HIV, herpes viruses, hepatitis B and C viruses, and influenza A and B viruses.
